By India Today Web Desk: Glenn Maxwell, on Friday, sent heartfelt birthday wishes to the former Indian skipper, who is set to turn 34 on Saturday, November 5. Maxwell sent the wishes while speaking to a reporter following Australia’s four-run win in the T20 World Cup Super 12 match against Mohammad Nabi‘s Afghanistan at the Adelaide Oval.
“Tomorrow, I just want to wish a very very happy birthday to one of my very good friends, Virat Kohli. Have a great day,” Maxwell was quoted as saying after the match.
Virat has been in stupendous form in the ongoing mega-event. In four matches, the right-handed batter has notched 220 runs at an average of 220 and a strike-rate of 144.73. Barring the match against Temba Bavuma’s South Africa where Lungi Ngidi accounted for his wicket, Kohli has looked ominous.
Having already scored three half-centuries with a top score of 82 not out against Babar Azam’s Pakistan, Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the ongoing edition of the mega event on Australian soil.
Kohli is next likely to play in India’s upcoming Super 12 match against Craig Ervine’s Zimbabwe on Sunday, November 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
As far as Maxwell is concerned, he played a match-winning knock against the Afghans. After being sent in to bat first, Australia scored 168 for the loss of eight wickets on the back of Maxwell’s unbeaten 32-ball knock of 54 with the help of six fours and two sixes.
Thereafter, Maxwell pulled off a stupendous direct hit to get rid of Gulbadin Naib, who racked up 39 runs off 23 balls with three fours and two sixes.
