WI vs IND, 3rd ODI: Live

Gill, who has 4 ODI centuries overall, came eerily close to the feat when India travelled to the Caribbean shores in 2022. In a rain-affected match, Gill remained stranded at 98*. He became the third Indian opener to score an ODI century in West Indies.

The right-handed opener has been in imperious form since early 2023. The batter has hit centuries against Sri Lanka and New Zealand and now against West Indies. Gill’s sensational form cements his place as the first-choice opener for the ODI World Cup 2023, alongside India captain Rohit Sharma. With the tournament set to be held in the months of October and November, the century will give Gill much confidence after two poor outings in the first two matches of the series.

On the day, Gill anchored the Indian innings, steadily gathering runs from the start, while Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson attacked the West Indies bowling. Gill hit 11 boundaries en route his 85-run innings on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Ishan Kishan continued his good run against West Indies, hitting his third consecutive half-century in the ODI format. Kishan took on the Windies bowling from the start and hit 77 runs off 64 balls. Gill added 143 runs with Kishan in 118 balls and then added 69 off 53 balls with Sanju Samson before the latter got out trying to clear the boundary.
