Canada men’s football team said has agreed to return to training after refusing to play a friendly match against Panama over stalled contract negotiations with Canada Soccer.

Two hours before the kickoff on Sunday in Vancouver, the Canadian team informed its association that they would not play the match until their demands were agreed.

The team demanded changes to their compensation agreement, including bigger prize money for the World Cup players, Reuters reported. The World Cup in Qatar will be the second time that Canada qualified for the global event since their appearance in 1986.

“Canada Soccer senior leaders and the Men’s National Team players met on Sunday night to continue the negotiation process. The players will train this afternoon (Monday) with future meetings scheduled toward a resolution,” Canada Soccer said in a statement shared on Twitter.

As the negotiators returned, players walked onto the field to prepare for the World Cup. The players, however, made it clear that no deal had been reached.
